Delwer Hussain is leading SAFA

Mr. AKM Delwer Hussain , former President of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), has been elected Vice-President of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA). The decision was taken at the 63rd SAFA's board meeting on Saturday dated 1st August, 2020. ICMAB said in a statement.

SAFA is an organization of Professional Accountants from 8 SAARC countries.

Although Mr. AkM Delwar Hossain has been elected as the Vice President for the term of 2020, he will also be the President for the year 2021 as per the rules of SAFA. 

Established in 1984, SAFA is working to maintain the standard of Accounting Profession. It also aims to integrate issues related to the International Accounting Standards (IAS).

Mr. AKM Delwar Hossain holds an honors and postgraduate degree in management from the University of Dhaka. He was the President of ICMAB in 2004 and 2013. He was also a board member of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) in 2004.

He is a former chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) and a two-term director of Rupali Bank.He was the director of the Stock Exchange and member of the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC).

I got the news and delighted to work on apex chair of SAFA and it is good to know that I am leading an organization of 8 SAARC countries including Bangladesh, he added . I will continue to work diligently to improve the quality of accounting profession in the region, he also quoted.
