Every year, on April 22 international mother earth day is being celebrated worldwide.

Celebration of ‘Earth Day’ has given an opportunity to the people around the world to be aware of the challenges facing current days and how to save our planet earth from environmental degradation.

The theme for this year is ‘Environmental & Climate Literacy’. This aims to empower everyone with the knowledge of climate change in order to inspire action towards environmental protection.

It is important to provide knowledge to the people around the world that climate change is happening and it may destroy our Blue planet. We call our ‘Earth’ as a ‘Mother Earth’. Like a mother it gives us every necessary resource that are essential for human survival and the living creatures. As a human being it is the duty of all global citizens to protect ‘Mother Earth’ and its environment. We have to live in this Planet with harmony and nature.

Natural resources have given shelter, food and every necessary resource to human beings, so that we can survive in this world. In twenty-first century, due to environmental degradation on earth our atmosphere is polluted. Due to pollution of environment many disasters occur. If all are aware of protecting our environment then only we can save our earth for our future generation where they can live with a sustainable life and survival for all living creatures.

We all know we came from earth and at the end of our life we will return back to the earth. That is why it is important to respect our ‘Mother Earth’.

‘The General Assembly, recognizing that Mother Earth is a common expression for the planet earth in a number of countries and regions, which reflects the interdependence that exists among human beings, other living species and the planet we all inhabit, and noting that Earth Day is observed each year in many countries, decided to designate 22 April as International Mother Earth Day through resolution A/RES/63/278, adopted in 2009.

It invites all Member States, the organizations of the United Nations system, international, regional and sub regional organizations, civil society, non-governmental organizations and relevant stakeholders to observe and raise awareness of International Mother Earth Day, as appropriate.’- United Nations

Let us pledge to protect and save our ‘Mother earth’ for all living creatures.

Wish the entire world a very happy International `Mother Earth Day’!
